Grantmaking

The Delta Dental Foundation develops and enhances partnerships and programs to improve oral and overall health. Each year, we provide financial support through grants to organizations in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and North Carolina.

How do I know which grant is right for me?

First, make sure that your proposal has a strong focus on oral health—the “tooth and nothing but the tooth.” We fund the people and programs that promote oral health equity and align with the five core pillars outlined in our strategic plan: access to care, advocacy, education, emerging initiatives and workforce development.

From there, we break funding requests into three categories: general grant requests, Community Mini-grants and Smiles for Kids grants:

General Grant Requests

General grants are for funding requests over  $10,000. Applications are accepted throughout the year and reviewed on a quarterly basis. Contact us at ddf@deltadentalmi.com to discuss your program before applying.

Delta Dental Foundation Mini-Grant Program

The Mini-Grant Program is for grant requests of $10,000 and under. Mini-grant applications are open once a year.

Smiles for Kids Grants

Smiles for Kids is for North Carolina grant requests of $5,000 and under. Smiles for Kids grant cycles are open once a year.

Oral Hygiene Supplies

If you're looking for oral hygiene supplies—such as toothbrushes, toothpaste or floss—or educational materials, please visit our In-Kind Request page. We do not typically provide funding for these types of requests.
