New Grants and Funding Initiatives

The Delta Dental Foundation (DDF) recently approved more than $1.2 million in grants to fund initiatives in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana:

$150,000 to Penn Dental Medicine to fund the Persons with Disabilities Presentation Series for three more years.
$122,132 to McMillen Health to continue virtual and in-person productions of “I Need My Teeth,” an oral health assembly for schoolchildren.
$118,225 to the Medicaid Medicare CHIP Services Dental Association for research on policy solutions that support the delivery of general anesthesia for medically necessary dental treatment for Medicaid enrollees, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
$100,000 to McMillen Health for the Brush oral health program for children, caregivers and adults with chronic health conditions in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
$93,259 to Nationwide Children’s Hospital to purchase mobile dental equipment to expand their school-based community dental program.
$75,000 to HNC Living Foundation to provide dental care to low-income head and neck cancer patients in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
$72,768 to The Ohio State University to study utilization of silver diamine fluoride.
$71,500 to Northern Michigan University to conduct a feasibility study on creating a dental hygiene program in Marquette, Michigan.
$57,465 to The Ohio State University to study the effectiveness of soft-tissue retractor use for brushing in patients with diminished brushing capacity.
$54,000 to I Am Boundless for dental equipment to meet the oral health needs of individuals and families with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Ohio.
$53,988 to Youngstown University to purchase radiology equipment for their dental hygiene training program.
$40,000 to Good Samaritan Foundation for dental prosthetics for low-income, uninsured patients in Cincinnati.
$35,000 to The Ohio State University to develop and implement an enhanced dental implant curriculum for the general practice residency program.
$25,000 to the Health Department of Northwest Michigan to support the Serving Senior Smiles program.
$25,000 to Dental Lifeline Network Indiana for the donated dental services program.
$17,345 to Matthew 25, Inc. to provide free dental care to low-income and uninsured people in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
$10,000 to Hope Network to support the dental needs of children with cognitive differences in the Developmental Adolescent Residential Treatment program in Kent County, Michigan.
$10,000 to Hygiene on Wheels for the Smiles in the Neighborhood program with Brilliant Detroit.
$10,000 to Ironton-Lawrence Community Action Organization to purchase dental equipment for a school-based health center in Ohio.
$10,000 to National Network for Oral Health Access to support oral health advocacy training for community health center dental directors.
$10,000 to Ottawa County Department of Public Health to support the Miles of Smiles oral health initiative.
$10,000 to the Regents of the University of Michigan to help cover the cost of dental care for uninsured or underinsured patients who turn to the emergency room for dental care.
$10,000 to University of Michigan to purchase equipment for the Victors for Veterans program.
$5,000 to the Michigan Antibiotics Resistance Reduction Coalition to develop and distribute educational resources to dental professionals and patients on antibiotic stewardship.
