New Grants and Funding Initiatives
The Delta Dental Foundation (DDF) recently approved more than $640,000 in grants to fund initiatives in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana:
- $400,000 to the Cherry Health Foundation to help equip 10 dental operatories in the new Montcalm Area Health Center dental suite, which will be co-located with the YMCA of greater Grand Rapids.
- $50,000 to Adventist Medical Evangelism Network to purchase a second set of mobile dental equipment to host free dental clinics at churches throughout the state of Michigan.
- $50,000 to the Institute for Exceptional Care to develop, test and deploy a dental office toolkit to improve care for people with disabilities.
- $47,455 to District Health Department #10 to support a mobile dental van for school-based oral health services, including Kindergarten Oral Health Assessments.
- $40,000 to St. Martin’s Healthcare, Inc., to update a mobile unit so that it can provide dental services in northern Indiana.
- $20,000 to the Health Department of Northwest Michigan to support the Senior Smiles program, which provides oral health screenings and education to seniors at congregated meal sites in northwest Michigan.
- $20,000 to the Regents of the University of Michigan for the continuation of the dental navigator program, which connects uninsured people visiting the emergency room for oral health issues to dental care.
- $15,000 to Nationwide Children’s Hospital to create a sensory friendly dental operatory.
